Kurt Halsey Frederiksen
An
aspiring comic strip artist growing up, KURT HALSEY FREDERIKSEN
graduated with a BFA in Painting from the Minneapolis College of
Art and Design in 2000, and has been exhibiting his paintings ever
since.
Much like the comic strips that shaped his drawing
style and personality, his paintings have an approachable style
of story telling, through the use of cartoon imagery, words, and
multiple panels. Unable to draw in 4 tiny boxes any longer, aspiring
comic strip artist Kurt Halsey Frederiksen began painting in college,
and has been exhibiting his comic strip inspired paintings and drawings
ever since.
His approachable and personal work is influenced by
his hopeless romantic and super sensitive mindset, and has found
a devoted following among those of us who pay far too much attention
to the little things in life and in relationships.

Artist’s Statement
“Shy and quiet, yet expressive and charming,
my paintings use a sweetness and an innocence to tell the stories
of heartache, love, sorrow, regret, confusion, and fear that each
of us realistically feels in certain situations. The joy of success
and the worry of failing, the humor, quirks, and frustrations of
day to day interactions within relationships, and the endless yearning
for a story book love are the themes from which my work is based.
“Influenced by my hopeless romantic and super
sensitive mindset, I pay far too much attention to the little things
in life and in the relationship between two people. In constant
need of reassurance, explanation, closure, and attention, my paintings
are made. For my paintings to be life, and to make people blush,
fuzzy, shiver, and smile as they help to make sense out of the emotions
and experiences that we both control and have no control over.”
